[Gakupo was no stranger to solitude. Eventually he grew not to mind it, even enjoying the quiet mornings in his house. But something was always...missing. A key component in making his home "home". He knew exactly what it was, and that he couldn't do a single thing about it, and he had accepted that.

[A pause.]

Do you think there's an Onii-sama and a Megumi who don't know each other?

H'm...she must be very sad. Without Onii-sama...nothing is right.

[Another pause. He wraps an arm around her, pulling her close, and she wastes no time snuggling in closer.

It was strange how such a foreign place felt so much more like "home".]

[Gumi shoots him a questioning look, earning a reassuring hair ruffle.]

Yes, come in.

[the door opens, and the doctor comes in]

How are you feeling today?

[Adjusts his position to better keep close to Gumi without otherwise physically hinting to her presence.]

Kaitan! He's a nice kid.

He's such a good boy, isn't he? He's very precious to me.

[he's filling the syringe]

He goes to you behind my back. He asks me - me! to my face! if he can spend time with you. As if I'm not good enough!

I am his father. I am the only father he needs!

[He tenses, considering what he might be able to do to disarm--or at least overpower--the doctor. He could get to his feet very easily, maybe manage a kick. Did the doctor lock the door again? He couldn't remember. He was going to take a chance on it remaining unlocked. Even without his hands he could still get it open.]

He has only visited me once over the course of this week, and when he did he informed me that he was looking for you with great concern.

[brandishing the syringe]

Leave my son alone. Stay away from him, do not speak to him, do not spend time with him. Do that, and I'll put this away. Your sister will stay with you.

Refuse, and you'll just have to hope that my son can fill the void she leaves behind...

[He doesn't look at her. She fixes this by standing right in front of him.]

[There's a pause, and she sets a hand on his head.]

[...He nods.]

You're not his father, but that child needs you, right? Don't let this guy get to you like that with such a petty argument.

[Her talking to him like this...it just made the idea of losing her again harder to swallow. He...he couldn't...]

[he knows, about the hallucinations. he knows that, for Gakupo, this silence is almost certainly filled with the voice of his sister.
